...I've just had a steamy wash and wax at a place offering the best hand job in Manchester.

Rattle's dodgy numberplate should fit in nicely. Stop giggling at the back, you with the filthy mind.

Would you care to name and locate this paragon of motoring cleanliness?

Sure. It's the New York New York car wash on Princess Avenue.

Switch to Street View and read the slogan on the shop wall. :-)

* For those who can't be bothered, it genuinely reads "Now try the best hand job in the North".

Oh that one at Southern Cemetery. Its OK but not great.

I've had far better hand jobs at Great American off Rochdale Road and I have found two other good places both run by Albanians (aren't they all). One is at the Texaco station behind Sainsbury at Regent Road in Salford and the other is at the Shell station at Bury Old Road in Prestwich.

Nothing can beat the slogan though!

My three kids were born on the other side of the road, not on the pavement but where the pink building is now.
Withington maternity Hospital used to be there. Modern in itself, it , together with the rest of the hospital has now been swept away and a new, community hospital built.

Turn right behind the bus and we're about a mile up the road.

There should be a Manchester meet-up. I'm only a mile away in Didsbury near the tennis place (in fact, my car is dumped in their car park at the moment but don't tell them...)

Princess Road :). I was a little confused of where Princess Ave was until I saw the map.

My Panda's had a lot of outings in Didsbury already and it had the awful ordeal of having to go down Nell Lane towards the parkway. It must be worst road in Manchester.

We have been thinking of moving to those new flats at the hospital but it feels too cramped and there dosn't seem to be much of a community there yet.

I don't think I could ever live any where else but this part of Manchester but then I have been here all my live (I live in Chorlton) or to keep in the theme of the thread title "Chorlton Cum Hardy". I was born in Withington Hospital and was quite sad to see it being pulled down.

It seems to strange to think a road now rests on the exact site I was born on.

That part of the Hospital was modern and the Duches of York extension was built in 1987 only to be pulled down circa 2000. My nearest hospitals are now both full of druggies which means I have to travel about 5 miles into a different council now.

As for the best hand job I don't trust anybody with my Panda yet, only I shall be washing it and nothing but the best Autogylm kit, I always kept my Corsa looking as new so doing it on a brand new car will be a lot more enjoyable.

It's one of those sort of Pandas!

No wonder they have problems breeding.

I'd probably schlepp over from Southport. Could tie it in with seeing the stepkids - they live in Withington and Didsbury.

It must be good as every time I drive past it there is a 'premium' brand enjoying attention from the previously alluded to 'hand-job'. Must nip in there myself and try it out...

Maybe Rattle should offer to sell them his number plate?:)

How much do you pay for a hand car wash oop North?

In leafy Surrey, it's £8 for the standard job - looks good afterwards!

...it's £8 for the standard job...

Eight pounds for a hand wash?

Up north we'd expect a hand job for £8.
