Problems upvoting on the forum - zippy
Just noticed that I cannot use the "voting" buttons on the forum. (I am logged on).

Is there an issue?

Mine aren't working on Chrome/Mac. Will check it on Safari in a moment.

Not working on Safari. I'll report it onwards !

Long may it last, Blasted things.

I'd give you the thumbs up....but it's broke
 Thumbs & Frownies. - Pat
Now I know some love them and some hate them but I can't use them at all at the moment.

I am logged in, can post messages but if I try and like or give anyone a frownie it tells me I have to be logged in to do it.

I logged out and logged back in and it's made no difference at all.

Any suggestions?

Pat

The thumb doesn't work for me, either. Don't know about the frownie.

Its broke. That you noticed it reinforces my belief you are the phantom frownie giver.

On the contrary, I'm the phantom thumbs giver.

If I disapprove, I say so as you well know since it's often got me in trouble:)

Oddly enough it was your comment on the Brexit thread that I was going to up-vote!

Damn - I actually clicked on the thumbs up now. Been a long 24 hours !

Alternative to the voting buttons?

Replying and putting your name to your opinion. That'd change a few things.

I noticed it when I wanted to thank someone recently.

I assumed it was part of a witch-hunt after the expulsion of He-who-must-not-be-named, and that it was a warning to some other suspects.
Now I learn that everyone else has had the privilege withdrawn too I feel a bit affronted. :)

Thank goodness.

Let's hope it's permanent.

Thumbs up to that.
Remove the outline symbols too.

????

What ones are they?

The one at the bottom right of every post.

That's what threw me when I tried clicking one. It implied that there was a social distinction between a qualified user and one who was merely logged in.( Like a RAC member or a member of the RAC)

I'm sure y'all can find something (in)appropriate here.

Try it and see what you get.....

It would be good to have the green thumbs back but hopefully not the silly pathetic red faces.
Problems upvoting on the forum - Old Navy
I wanted to give you one of each as a test, the green one works. You can give me a red one if you want, they are meaningless.

Admittedly the Red Faces are the most pathetic, but the green thumbs aren't much better.
Problems upvoting on the forum - Zero
I tried to give Mark a green thumb. A dialogue box popped up and said

. "A GREEN THUMB FOR NoFM2R?" DON'T BE RIDICULOUS.
Problems upvoting on the forum - car4play
Not sure I can spare the time to make the Red Faces look less pathetic ;-)

Appears both are working.
Problems upvoting on the forum - No FM2R
Why would anybody bother fixing that? I'm sure we've previously had the explanation that moving them would cost time/effort and so wouldn't be done.

yet time/effort can be sued for fixing them?

All seems to be working again. I've just been doing some testing.

Thanks for heads up. The mods were in touch a lot because of some of the recent shenanigans so they mentioned it.

Should be all fixed now.

The problem with the software though is that it runs on an older legacy server (older PHP) and so even though I fix it on a local version I'm running much later stuff and so debugging the particular issues on that machine can be quite difficult.

I checked the rating thing is ok - as for offensive faces - well they just get fixed as part of the wash as it were.

Should have left them broken
Problems upvoting on the forum - Manatee
I've changed my mind about them.

If somebody behaves badly, they deserve boos, not polite correspondence that they can then pick at.

Similarly with applause for helpful posts.

Feel free to hit me with a frowny if you are offended by this.

Booooo

(And I even put my name to it)
Problems upvoting on the forum - Cliff Pope
I've changed my mind too.
I agree with boos, where appropriate, because it is usually obvious what the boos are for.

But a "helpful" thumbs up is meaningless. If it doesn't mean you like the post, what's the point of saying it is helpful. I hate your views but I think they are helpful in furthering a debate embracing all opinions?

If we have to have a thumbs up, it should mean what commonsense says it means - ie, I agree, I like it.

I'll give that a thumbs up.

I've never used a scowly face on anyone, but I've used green thumbs anonymously. I use them exclusively on things that make me laugh, whether it's a good joke or some clever wordplay. I've never used them to agree with an opinion.

This is because I'm shallow enough to enjoy getting the odd green thumb if I say something that at least to me, is amusing. It means that there's just one other person out there who thinks as I do on occasion is all.

Obviously that makes me a needy person. Grade me, grade me.

>> Grade me, grade me.

Willingly - here's by green thumb.

But as it seems we are all using green thumbs to mean different things:

That's a good joke, made me smile
I like that opinion
I don't like that opinion but it is helpful
I don't see why someone's given you a scowl, so have a green thumb to balance it

your running total of 19 thumbs may or may not assuage your need :)

I gave him a scowly. I dont do this "we must be nice to special needs people" shiesse. Consider it a

Yeah.

Pity he didn't do National Service.

That would have made a man of him.

Zero gets my green thumb because that made me laugh.
