The way the news companies and politicians are baying one might almost think they need Facebook more than they were admitting.

Certainly the News Companies' issue seems to be that Facebook think it is more powerful than they are.

I do sometimes wonder if the ridiculousness is just to continue to snowball until one day the world goes pop.

“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”

Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

Thank you. The Douglas Adams quote amply catches the thoughts I had trying to make sense of this on the six o'clock news.

As I'm not a massive user of fb, I didn't know so many people used it for reading the news. I don't think I've ever used to read a news report.

I see Google have decided to play ball, however that only got a very short foot note at the bottom of the article. I think a compare and contrast article between the two companies and how they are acting in light of this law would have been more interesting.
