Keith Reid has skipped the light fandango - smokie
He was the Procol Harum lyricist, responsible for most of their lyrics over the years but never played with them.

I Googled what the phrase actually means and got

1) the phrase "to trip the light fandango" is used as a phrase for carefree dancing in a Spanish or Latin American fandango style

2) It's about the journey to having sex.

3) “We Skipped the Light Fandango” means that the nice rhythm expected to the music was skipped, indicating it became a fast, possibly disorganized activity

4) The general consensus is that it's a description of a drunken sexual adventure that has gone wrong.

5) It's all about drug addiction, a hard trip. It's all about death from something that controls you that is out of your hands.

6) skipping to the rhythm of a light fandango, metaphorically speaking

7) A plane flying cross country (leaving for the coast) staffed by rookie flight attendants (vestal virgins) hits wicked turbulence (fandango, cartwheels).

8) a few references to it being the tale of the Titanic sinking

I liked the following comment I saw 'A WHITER Shade Of Pale' is lyrically a pile of pretentious rubbish which makes the mistake of assuming the mantle of literature"

But I really only posted this for the headline :-)
