Today. The battery died, no warning. So OK no worries, I'll retrieve the key from my other safe. Yep. Always felt smugly confident that should ever get locked out I would be fine. The emergency number is not reccognised. So how do I break in. Both safes over 20 years old and I've never replaced the batteries. Whoops.

Nah. Someone from housekeeping at nearest hotel will have it open in less that 10secs.

Yes, looking on YouTube some safes allow you to expose the battery wiring and temporarily connect another battery. You might be lucky.

"I'll retrieve the key from my other safe."
Maybe in future, keep the spare key under the flower pot on the windowsill.

CRACKED IT. good old youtube. Never do anything until you've watched a few videos. what was the chances of both safes packing up on the same day. Makes me think it was programmed to fail on 1st jan 2026.
had to lever it away from the wall a bit Luckily, it was not fitted on top of a hard surface. hit with a nylon hammer and bounced it best i could. came open quite easily. easy when you know how.
still better than just using a draw to keep things safe.
pleased to add safe cracker to my cv

Similar replacing the fob battery for the Superb.
It's covered in the manual but the instruction to use the emergency physical key to open the fob lost something in translation.
It reads as though the key in some way operates a catch to release the cover. In fact, as You Tube makes clear, it's used as a lever with force needed.
