 Wembley Arena parking - Dave_
My daughters and I received tickets last Christmas to a concert next week at Wembley Arena. I'll be driving from Leics to Herts and then on into North London for the concert, can anyone recommend somewhere nearby to park for free on Wednesday evening without the risk of getting clamped or towed away? I don't mind a walk of up to a mile or so.

I dcn't have a map to hand but lots of people use London Underground stations - drive in and park free and take the train on in to London. Might be one within a walk of Wembley.

This looks convenient and not too pricey, bearing in mind your tickets are free, did I read?

Parking at one of the outlying rail stations used to be good way to reach the arena.

My suggestion would be Watford Junction; overground service to Wembley every 20 mins.

Doesn't fit the free criteria though. OTOH if London Midland's parking enforcement is as slack as at Northampton you'd be very unlucky to pick up a fine.

Tickets were a Christmas gift last year. I'm allergic to paying for parking, but the idea of getting the Tube could make sense. Would Stanmore to Wembley Park be the best idea?

Stanmore used to be do-able and maybe still is for evenings but locals hacked off with living on a commuter car park have had some restrictions imposed.

That's what you would have to look out for.

I parked near one of the overground rail stations, can't remember which one, but it was in the days before such restrictions.

At a guess, some might not apply in the evening.

A quick Street View around Stanmore station throws up parking restrictions between 10-11am and 3-4pm only. Looks like I might be in luck :)

Wealthy area, so the Escort will be the least desirable car to nick in the street, but also the easiest.

All the others will be late models with fancy immobilisers.

Stanmore's as safe a place to park as any, but it might be worth fitting a dustbin lid lock or similar.

Stanmore has quite a large car park, 450 spaces, and is £4.50 for the day so would look to be a reasonable choice.

Not been to a concert at Wembley Arena but for football at the Stadium any parking within a mile of the ground I would consider to be close! To be honest I gave up even thinking about driving to Wembley about 15 years ago for the football when I still hadn't managed to get out of the car park three hours after the final whistle, don't know whether it has improved but I've never bothered to find out again........

Parking at a Tube or main line station and training it in would be No1 choice for me!

As for free parking I am afraid that unrestricted, free, parking and London that are four words that you would never normally see in the same sentence these days.

JLS? From what I remember of their early X Factor auditions (before they started adding all the bells and whistles in the later stages) they can sing. Always helps :)

As a very longstanding Liverpool FC supporter I have been to the old Wembley Stadium over 20 times (not for some time, by the way!) and the best parking arrangement we found was to drive to Harrow-on-the-Hill station which is north of Wembley but only a couple of stops on the Metropolitan Line. Don't know if this is still viable but worth investigating.

Did the Stanmore park and underground trick meself, worked well but that was a number of years ago.

Hope you two have a really good time.

I wondered how long it would take for someone to spot that... Yes, I'm afraid so! I gather they can indeed sing, it should be a good evening all in all. My money's on One Direction as the support act, got to be better than Miss Frank who turned on our town Christmas lights the other week! Personally I'd really like to go and see Tim Minchin live at Nottingham on Saturday but I can't justify two jaunts so close together.

It's got a chip in the key, a Stoplock, a standard Ford alarm replete with red flashing LEDs in the dash, and a dodgy ignition barrel which regularly defeats anyone I block in at work! Of course the great thing about driving an old shed like that is that I don't care if anyone opens their door into it in a car park :)

>> Hope you two have a really good time

Thanks. I'm picking up my eldest from her mum's on the way, so it'll be three of us. A good evening of pre-Christmas bonding beckons.

Isn't there a large IKEA at Wembley, they usually have a car park.

"Isn't there a large IKEA at Wembley, they usually have a car park. "

If they do I would think that it will be very securely locked or very securely available at a cost of about £25.

Aye, an you'll have to assemble your own parking bay from a flatpack and it will ever so slightly odd..

Last time I went to Wembley to see the Race of Champions I parked at Ickenham station on the Metropolitan line, which has a good car park. Easy access from A40 (itself close to M25) and then just 8 stops to Wembley Park. Very easy.

Have a great time Dave:)
We cheated with AC/DC and booked the hotel nearest to the arena, complete with free parking.

You could have heard them from your room.

Yep, that's what I've used the last two times I've taken my daughters to gigs at Wembley Arena, but then I've dropped them off at the Arena then parked at Ikea and spent the evening over meatballs and coffee.
