..has reappeared on my laptop, haven't seen it for a couple of years. Not just on this site, and not all the time.

Anybody know how to get rid of it?

On chrome its been installed on some extension you have added (its easy to get them added to chrome by mistake) , Disable them all, and then install them one by one to find the culprit.

I think that might have worked.

I had an extension that causes Youtube video playback to default to HD - no idea how it got there, and it was no use to me. I haven't seen the ads since disabling, now it's deleted.
