I dropped my laptop from the kitchen table, when I turned it back on this is what it showed.

Be patient... (it's not actually the Google search page)
|
I like the way the links still work - clever stuff.

Just to clarify Pat, if it doesn't all start moving after about a second, your browser (or something) doesn't support whatever technique is being used on the page.
|
It doesn't move:)
That's another bit of modern technology that will remain a mystery to me then!

It uses HTML5 - the next incarnation of the language used by your web browser to display web sites. It is still in development, but some browsers like Safari and Chrome are ahead of the pack. (I think it's in the latest Firefox beta version too).
But not in Internet Explorer which is probably what you are using Pat. I mean, IE can't even get a lot of HTML 4 correct now so there isn't a lot of chance they can get 5 working is there? ;-)
Perhaps Microsoft is just holding off till the standards for HTML5 get sorted out.
The reason Safari supports it so well is that Apple hate Flash with a vengeance and HTML 5 is supposed to do all that Flash can. The link here is great demonstration of some of these technologies.
I liked it!

I'm only using 3.6.4, although there's a v4 beta with 'increased HTML5 support'.
EDIT: and it does work for me

Works on my Vista/Firefox combo but a lot smoother on my MacBook/Firefox machine.

((Stamps feet and has a hissy fit!))
Will someone please tell me WHAT it does:(

Actually I can't move the contents around with the mouse like they do in the video - perhaps that's what's missing from the older versions of FF.

Neither can I.
|
On the Mac using Safari or Chrome you can pick up the fallen items and swing them around, move them, etc. In Firefox the animation is slower and you cannot interact with the items.
|
only opera has the answer...................
|
>>only opera has the answer<<
Affirmative, I can make it dance in opera.
|
we might be old dogs dog but at least we are up to date in the tricks of the trade
|
The link worked with the latest version of Firefox (3.6.6).....:-)
Quite amusing little demonstration.
|
>>The link worked with the latest version of Firefox (3.6.6)<<
But can you make it dance with your left clicker like us in the opera?
|
Could you describe what it does?
|
>> Could you describe what it does?
See the youtube link posted earlier.
|
The Google logo, search boxes etc, crumple and fall to the bottom of the web page in a tangled heap of broken letters!
Works on Firefox 3.6.6
|
And the page still works to use with the tangled heap. And you can move the tangled heap about by clicking and dragging etc. You can even spin things around and let them go.
|
Actually I installed the Final version of Firefox 3 (3.6.7) shortly after posting the earlier comment...:-)
Works equally well.

But as Dog asked earlier, does it allow you to throw the links around with your mouse, which 3.6.4 doesn't?
|
You can really cause a Blitzkrieg with it if you cop hold of the end of 'Google' and spin the critter around while flinging it up in the air!
:D That's in opera btw.

No, it doesn't. (I am now officially a Windows user - company policy change :( )
|
I installed the latest updates from the fiery fox, and my choice of persona is the Japanese Tattoo although I quite like the Van Goff :)
I still can't make it dance in Firefox, even with the latest updates,
So that's a gold star to opera then.
