My brother hasn't seen my niece since Xmas as their work shifts don't align and he lives a couple of hours away, so he asked that I catch up with her to make sure she's ok and so we arranged to meet up for breakfast on Sunday morning.
We had planned to go to a cafe on the seafront but the weather was atrocious so I picked her up from her flat and headed to a sea front hotel which does good breakfasts
The hotel's car park is on the road behind the hotel and once parked you enter the hotel from the top floor and head down to reception.
There was a group of middle-aged ladies waiting to go in to the restaurant and they were "glaring" at us.
When we sat down for breakfast, the group of women continuously glared at us.
Then two of them came over and berated me - saying I should know better, I'm old enough to be her dad etc. I was gobsmacked. Niece on the other hand wasn't. She said "He's my uncle - now get back in to the dinghy holes that you crawled out from". They returned to their table in silence.
