Variations on a theme - Terry
It may not be the cars that are differently reliable, but the different groups who buy them.

Take Q3, Tiguan, Skoda, Ateca all very similar mechanically with different trim levels and pricing.

Audi buyers may have higher expectations and cars may be fitted with more gizmos to fail. At the other end of the spectrum - Seat owners may buy on the basis of functionality and start ownership with lower expectations.

There may also be differentiation between the attitude of company funded vs privately owned cars which may also enjoy markedly different driving patterns - eg: business travel vs school run and shopping.
