My daughter has the same car as me, my old one now replaced, and her insurance is less by a three figure sum. Apparently my age counts more than my blameless experience. Last year there was an unwelcome hike and I ended up with LV on a joint policy for our two cars as the cheapest solution - if £800+ is considered cheap.
This year the renewal came though at £830 for the both of them and I spent some time using the comparison sites to compare and contrast. Having found some interesting differences i contacted LV and suggested that my two quotes, one for each car, were significantly cheaper and yet both were LV. After some to and fro it appears that a couple of replacement windscreens, which i though i didn't have to declare, made a difference. They came down to just over £800 as the best they could do.
I then bashed the comparison sites again, making sure to declare the windscreens properly and came up with two cheaper still quotes, again both LV. So an hour or so on the computer has saved £57.44 and £30 or so against their best price, but the pleasure in doing so is worth so much more! Both vehicles remain insured with LV, this time on separate policies. Where next I wonder.
