Yes it is, it's called a type-c and also doubles as a power socket. Go to this site and scroll down. About the 5th picture is exactly the USB C socket.

The phone should have come with a power cable which doubles as a data cable.
If it didn't, they are readily available and cheap from any phone supplier / shop / website. Simply ask for a USB C power/data cable.

I can only imagine that it performs a hard reset, otherwise it would make a nonsense out of any theft protection on a phone. The point about a hard reset is that whilst it will give you access to the phone it removes all data, passwords and personal information at the same time.
But you don't need it, just follow the key press sequence I linked to above and you're done.
