I tried to set up a government gateway account but it would not validate me. After renewing my passport it did. For Mrs Orb it seems the system wouldn't recognise the hyphen in her name as the DVLA systems were not compatible at the time. She eventually did it at the post office when renewing her driving licence. Later needed to do Self Assessment after inheriting stuff when Mum died. Used it last month for ID to do trailer registration for the caravan. All on one account. She got email from HMRC to access the account but when we tried, it said that it couldnt access HMRC on that GG and we had to use a previous one ending in XX. So finally found that one in old emails and managed to get the password reset and now got in to see the Tax info. But that means she now has 3 Govt Gateways.
