Several years ago i rented from Intercar in Tenerife. A crappy worn out Fiat 500. Argued for ages to change it , vociferously, got nowhere. Took lots of photos and when returned to the airport the f’agent’ walked directly to a spot under the rear bumper and pointed out damage. Obviously psychic. Paperwork for the damage came on Goldcar headed A4. I still bear a grudge. Second time was an early trip to Portugal, they gave me a nearly new Seat Ibiza which I managed to damage front bumper, bonnet then rear side door and wheel arch all quite significantly in two separate incidents over a month. Poor girl nearly broke down when I took it back. I did reassure her that it wasn't mine, or hers, and the insurance would pick it up :-) I almost lost it completely into the river at Lisbon... I can't see it on the map now but there was public parking on a quayside where they parked me, nose first, on a very steeply sloping bit just maybe two feet away from the river, pointing straight at it. It was really VERY steep.
