Central Scotland - Green Grass all summer as it rained intermittently.
2+ weeks between cuts rather than every 7-10 days.

Out here in the wild west of Wales my garden has a lush green covering of grass. We did suffer with the heat, but nowhere near as much as those east of us.

It's certainly ben a tough year for the garden. I as quite pleased with how well a 4m x 2m area of grass seed had grown where we had sone trees taken out but once we were on the hosepipe ban that has died, along with the rest of the grass. Bits have come back a little but it needs some proper rain.

SWMBO has a couple of vegetable beds which we have kept watered using washing up water and the waste shower water ( - which is nearly 2 buckets-full before the temperature settles!) and she grew some large courgettes and cucumbers but the runner beans flowered but no fruits, ad some peppers were coming on at last once we left for Portugal on 20 Sept, too late for us though.

I suspect some of our long established bushes won't recover so I'm expecting a bit of a spend on the garden for next year. There would have been a time when I've have suggested paving the lot but I like the greenery now, especially as she mostly takes care of it.

Here in Surrey I have been sweeping up leaves for weeks
My trees were having a bit of early leaf drop.
My Victoria plum tree had a great crop of plums forming.
I sampled one plum and soon after every other plum turned into a prune
I gathered buckets of the victims and of course carefully disposed of them
in the food recycling. The bin man had a bit of a shock from the weight every week.
It has been bliss without the parakeets.

After early in the year I took the strimmer to foot high grass seed heads,
This week I finally did my first mower cut to the , what is supposed to be, grass.
Only now a little sign of grass but the rest is still orange.
Many plants in pots died as i stayed in in the house out of the heat rather that
venture out.
We have heavy clay soil so lots of damage to my paving.

I noted that no corn on the cob ( with all its leaves on ) was on sale this year.
One of my treats along with UK runner beans.
Hoping for "Fenland " celery soon.

We have just returned from a very pleasant trip north which included a few days in the Yorkshire Dales (based in Masham) and then on to Newcastle to visit my daughter and family.

Up there leaves are starting to look autumnal in a natural kind of way. By that I mean that the trees there were not affected by last summer's drought as much as in the south, where there are some patchy colour changes which I assume are the result of drought stress.

There was some programme on the box the other day in which it was suggested that many well-established and normally long-lived trees will have had decades take off their lives by last summer's weather. And let's not forget the near-certainty that the summer of 2027 will be even more of a threat.

A son was on Facetime earlier today. He lives in Texas.
Yesterday was the first signs that Autumn might be on the way.

Daytime temperatures were around 35C and the humidity dropped from 90+% to around 50 /55%

The proof was that he was able to take the dog for a walk without breaking out in a sweat.

Boiler has just come on for evening hot water boost.

For first time in months there's visible vapour from the flue.

Seventeen degrees outside.
