Firstly, there can only be another series if you replace all the characters except Gene Hunt, because the others have all moved onto the afterlife from the limbo they were in.
Which is just as well really
This really was a pigs breakfast of a show, and only existed to try and cash in on the freshness of Life on Mars and try and prolong the character of Gene Hunt.
The writing was for the most part poor, clearly they had no idea of why the characters were there or what the ending would be untill much later in the show. There was no logical link to Life on Mars despite one of the lead characters trying to bring it in. The idea of trying to mix the sureal concept cobbled together at the end, with the comic book villainousness of Gene Hunt was desperate from the start and failed miserably.
The acting was as equally dire as the writing, with the exception of Philip Glenister as DCI Gene Hunt and Keeley Hawes as DI Alex Drake.
It could have been great, but failed on all counts.
