...My S-i-L has upgraded her BT connection to Fibre (Infinity) but hasn't seen any noticeable increase in performance.
She has a Homehub5 which will talk to either an ADSL2+ copper connection, or a VDSL(2) FTTC connection, depending on the service purchased. (No modem required for fibre)
The reported upload/download speeds from both the router stats and speed-testing are in the ADSL2+ range (or, of course, a very slow FTTC/Infinity range). The values are quite believable for her location for an ADSL2+ circuit.
The router is reporting a connection with a G992.5 Annex A modulation - which is ADSL2+.
Patently, the router may be reporting arbitrarily, but I would expect a G993.1 or G993.2 for Infinity.
All the evidence points to it still being ADSL2+, but she is getting nowhere with the India-based support.
I'm not au-fait with BT fibre kit, so am looking to prove my assumptions. Can anyone with a BT fibre connection check the router stats for me and let me know what modulation type is being reported.
(It can be accessed via the router admin under Avanced Settings / Troubleshooting / Helpdesk )
