I use the ICE high speed train services in Germany quite frequently. The ICE 3 has onboard wireless LAN, for the older ICEs I rely on a UMTS card for my laptop. It works ok, even at 300km/h. The ICE 3 has the drive units distributed across the axles instead of a dedicated locomotive, so sitting at the front and looking over the driver's shoulder is a special experience. Sort of like sitting upstairs in the front seats of a double decker bus, but faster.
The French TGV is faster than the ICE but noisier.
