Who would have guessed Goldcar would be worst.

Only hired from them twice, on one of the Balearics IIRC, queued and queued for hours and hours but otherwise OK.
Second time was an early trip to Portugal, they gave me a nearly new Seat Ibiza which I managed to damage front bumper, bonnet then rear side door and wheel arch all quite significantly in two separate incidents over a month. Poor girl nearly broke down when I took it back. I did reassure her that it wasn't mine, or hers, and the insurance would pick it up :-)
I almost lost it completely into the river at Lisbon... I can't see it on the map now but there was public parking on a quayside where they parked me, nose first, on a very steeply sloping bit just maybe two feet away from the river, pointing straight at it. It was really VERY steep. When leaving, on the reverse hill start I did roll forward enough to scare all occupants somewhat including myself!!

I’ve always avoided Goldcar.
Several years ago i rented from Intercar in Tenerife. A crappy worn out Fiat 500. Argued for ages to change it , vociferously, got nowhere. Took lots of photos and when returned to the airport the f’agent’ walked directly to a spot under the rear bumper and pointed out damage. Obviously psychic.
Paperwork for the damage came on Goldcar headed A4.
I still bear a grudge.
People say it eats into the soul but don’t think i’ve got one.

I remember Goldcar as being crooks way back in the 90s when we lived in Tenerife for 3 years.
