I was working in Marsh Aviation in Norwich. Marsh McLennan lost 350 employees when an aircraft struck the North Tower.

Civil Servant working in the old Public Trustee Office building in Kingsway.
Working on a project led by a contractor from Sema Group whose wife rang with news. My own image was of an accident on par with the incidnent with the Empire State Building in 1945.
Left the office to walk* to Euston for the train home and people were clustered outside Berry's and anywhere else with a TV in the window and sseing the reality.
*EDIT: By 2001 I had the eponymous folding bike so was riding to Euston.

We'd only been down here three weeks and we were out in the car when Steve Wright started broadcasting the news during his show. First reports were that a light aircraft had struck one of the towers and then the real story started to emerge.

At my office desk, when my manager rang me, he was on the tube I believe and asked me to have a look on t'internet to see what was going on. I think I found CNN and gave him a running commentary until he lost his signal. The news feed soon stopped, as did t'internet, presumably from the overload.
Coincidentally, daughter was in a meeting in London when the tube and bus bombers struck. She was in a meeting when I rang her phone (embarrassingly, although she was forgiven) to ask if she was involved. Her meeting was cancelled while everyone tried to find out what was happening. I believe her journey back was a nightmare!

At work, in a finance department. The news was on the Reuters, I watched live as the plane hit the second tower and the towers collapsed.

I'd dropped into the Holiday Inn in Hemel Hempstead to check on some work my team were carrying out. We watched it unfold on the customer screen in the foyer I think then I rushed home to watch it in Sky Nes who always had good live coverage of that kind of thing, even if somewhat repetitive (Windsor fire springs to mind).
Ch 5 has had some good shows over the past week with mobile footage "previously unseen" which remains one of the horror of the whole event.
They said the other night that the US govt had sanctioned the shooting down of a 4th plane with a number of US citizens on because they thought it was a threat Washington. It was the one which the passengers stormed the cockpit but ultimately crashed.
I just read up on it on Wikipedia which said "Two F-16 fighter pilots from the 121st Fighter Squadron of the D.C. Air National Guard, Marc Sasseville and Heather "Lucky" Penney, were scrambled and ordered to intercept Flight 93. The pilots intended to ram it since they did not have time to arm the jets; armed jets ready to take off was not standard at the time of the attack."

We had moved to Japan earlier that year, and the first plane hit the WTC at around quarter to ten in the evening. We were in a little izakaya near our local station in Yokohama when my phone buzzed with the breaking news, along with the phones of a few others. The taisho turned on what can only have been a 17” LCD TV above the bar and we watched it on, I think, CNN. We saw the second plane hit, but closing time was 11pm and we were all ushered out. Walked the couple of minutes home, turned on the TV again but it was just speculation and repeated footage so we went to bed. Woke up at 7 to read and see the full horror of the whole thing. In the immediate aftermath when, as you might recall, air travel fell off a cliff Andy was able to get a return to London on Virgin in premium economy for £199…. We didn’t have many American visitors for a while, and the Japanese were so spooked that when we needed to fly to the US for meetings they refused to fly on US airlines, and I recall flying with some Japanese colleagues to San Jose from Narita via London with BA on one occasion. Why we didn’t fly JAL to the US I can’t recall….
When US visitors did start to come I recall one was very spooked when one of the very regular earthquakes shook his hotel in the Landmark Tower in Yokohama one night, where the rooms span the 50th to the 70th floors from memory.

My niece was in school next day and when a couple of RAF fighter jets roared overhead out to the Atlantic some of the kids went into hysterics, thinking it was another attack.
Apparently Trump is now claiming he was pulled out of the rubble when the towers came down. The man is unhinged beyond belief.

Trump lies about everything. He’s only concerns are to be the centre of attention and amassing wealth.

He has demonstrated over the last 21 months that lies, obfuscation, fantasy, u-turns are his dominant characteristic.
Others who have no choice but to deal with him need to toe the line for fear he will punish. A physically overgrown toddler who can lash out unpredictably - tariffs today, a few bunker busters tomorrow, cease fire negotiations and declare another conflict resolved.
It does the media discredit they even bother to report his substantially demented utterances.
His $5000 re-election bribe is an unambiguous promise - albeit unlikely ever to be paid even if he wins the mid-terms. In the UK our politicians dress up the "bribes" with often unattainable promises - no tax increases, more cash for the NHS, solve the cost of living crisis etc etc.

It was my daughters (twins) first day at junior school. Id walked there to pick them up. When we Returned home my neighbour, who was on her drive, informed me that a plane had crashed into the Twin Towers. In my mind i was thinking in terms of a single light aircraft that had an accident. Of course it tuned out to be much much bigger than that.

In an aircraft flying over Afghanistan. I had come from Bali and someone on the plane said that there was a hijacking going on in the US. When we refueled in Bangkok the airport TVs had the whole thing on. We then reboarded the plane and flew on to Gatwick over Afghanistan. When we got off at Gatwick there were police with assault rifles everywhere and we were pushed straight out the airport quick smart. I have never gone through airport arrivals so fast in my life.

I was driving a truck that day from Shefford to Swindon and back, the usual route was via Woburn, Leighton Buzzard, Aylesbury etc. before many bypasses had been finished. I'd heard updates on the radio during the day. I clearly remember stopping on my way back at the fuel station in Heath & Reach (now houses), where the cashier had brought a portable 14" telly in to work to watch the news. Myself and a few other customers stood there, slack-jawed, watching the footage.

I was on holiday in Cornwall. We had been out for lunch and returned to the caravan. I turned on the TV and saw the happenings in the US. I thought it was a film and changed channels to find the same thing on either ITV or BBC. There was no commentary and we had no idea what was happening. Eventually, there was a commentary and we were shocked at the scale of devastation.
