He does seem more honest and straightforward than the run of the mill MP but of course he has a proper work etc history; not PPE>SPAD>Safe Seat.
However I think pushing for immunity from prosecution for potential criminality during the troubles is a mistake. There should be some sort of trial where the facts can be properly explored.
Sentence (assuming guilt) is the point for any form of mitigation and, given the mass release of those convicted of offences in the paramilitaries, equality of treatment.
