In Spain one can drive a UK car as a UK Citizen / Resident . The moment one becomes a Spanish resident then one can no longer drive that car without re-registering it.
It's residency which is the issue, not nationality. And one is considered resident if one spends more than 6 months a year there.
Fairly normal I think.
Same in Chile for Chilean residents and Brazil for Brazilian residents. I should think it's the same or similar most places.
