Why fruitcakes? Do you doubt the science or just the method of protest?
It's not that difficult to avoid Oxford Circus, Parliament Square or Marble Arch still less to use Blackfriars, Westminster or Southwark Bridges as alternative to Waterloo.
The aim is to garner publicity; the hindrance to the public isn't really that great.
If they'd blocked M1 @ J19 and Euston and KX mainlines while occupying runways at Heathrow and Gatwick then law enforcement might need to go in heavy handed.
Right now Sajid Javid's call for full force of law looks like political posturing from a wannabee PM.
