...it's actually all down to the flushing of toilets, the timing of (the bulk of) which travels round the globe with daylight, and as you reach the point of "peak-flush" around the world, the surge of water causes the tide to rise.
The same phenomenon (the rise of the flush toilet) is also responsible for the general rise in sea-level globally.
