I'm trying to find out how buggrd it really is. Clearly I massively scraped n/s bodywork and judging from witness marks on alloys the n/s front wheel glanced a kerbstone. It was metal/metal scraping noise not steering 'grab' that brought me to my senses. My guess is that if new rack is needed it's a design issue - track rod type component that's integral to rack rather than individually replaceable or something similar. That or prior damage.
Straw in wind but last set of tyres wore disproportionately on inner edges.

Salvage is about £700 so I'd get £2300. Given I can afford to put money into deal I might just say bugggrit and look for something different.
Mrs B and I were only saying other day that if all my car did was my work run and odd trip to my sister's or shopping in MK I'd be fine with a Leaf or Zoe.
