Getting back to the original subject!!! Here's the definitive answer from the DVSA.
Dear Oldgit
If you are able to secure an MOT booking and it is safe for you to attend, then we would encourage you to do so, however if for any reason you are unable to get the test then the extension will be added and you can MOT your vehicle at your earliest convenience.
Please be aware that you will not get a new paper MOT certificate with the new expiry date on it, and you must ensure your vehicle is kept in a roadworthy condition and safe to drive, for more guidance on this please click on the link here.
