They have to be designed to catch short attention spans and fast forwarding - have a look next time you fast forward an ad - nearly always you can still tell what is being advertised in most cases.
I agree the general quality has gone down hill, the will she, wont she ones, black magic, etc and the soft porn flake.
I quite like the We Buy Any Car ads and the Meercats are rather silly. Warburtons haven't been too bad recently as are Yorkshire Teas. The Easy Jet one with the girl popping out of cupboards etc. is quite good.
