I hope you gave her a tip as well! We've also been going to Matalan for years and have noticed that staff numbers have been reduced recently, so that the assistants tend to be run off their feet. Compare that to Marks & Spencer stores which are clearly overstaffed in comparison. No question then, why Matalan is doing well and M&S is struggling.
