Sorry, but I find that comment both offensive and quite unnecessary.
My last suit cost more than £200 (a Centaur), but because I've put quite a bit of weight on and, in fact, only wear a suit once or twice a year, I for one don't intend to spend money for no good reason.
As for shirts, Matalan's shirts are (as far as I'm aware from materials, styling and quality) exactly the same as those from M and S - in fact I have shirts from both retailers and can't fault them.
Some of my shirts, in fact, date back to the mid-1980s when Matalan was founded in Cuerden, near Preston and, although a bit small for me now, are still in excellent condition despite being washed and ironed many, many times over the years. Average price was just under £4 a shirt.
Still "proper money".
