Teva Hurricane XLT sandals for me. All summer long and whenever it’s warm enough. With both short & long trousers. When it’s scorchio I pad around the house barefoot and walk to the pub ( 5 mins away) in flip flops.
Cooler weather I’ve 3 pairs of Barkers and Loakes which I’ve had for years. My current favourite for long distance or any walking are Hoka One Ones ( model Stinson ATR). Look slightly ridiculous with the larger than normal cushioned sole, but lightweight, highly breathable, quick drying and perfect for walking on hard ground, rough tracks and tarmac. Wide box foot, but too unstable for fell running. I’ve covered at least 300 miles walking in them the past 8 weeks, often in baking temps, with not even a hot spot let alone a blister.
